Basmati Rice

Basmati Rice is a variety of long, slender-grained aromatic rice, which is traditionally from the Indian- subcontinent. India is exporting 65 percent of the production of this type of rice to overseas market. Basmati rice has a typical flavor. Basmati grains contain about 0.09 ppm of this aromatic chemical compound naturally, a level that is about 12 times more than non-basmati rice varieties, giving basmati it’s distinctive spicy fragrance and flavor. This natural aroma is also found in cheese, fruits, and other cereals.

The areas of basmati rice production in India are in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and a little bit in Bihar. India’s total basmati production for July 2016 – June 2017 Crop Year is 12 million tons. In India, Haryana is Major Basmati Rice cultivating state, producing more than 60 percent of total basmati rice production in India.
